THE Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN), Ibusa, has officially flagged-off the maiden edition of its Inter-Faculty Games, with the opening ceremony holding today, Thursday, July 3rd. The three-day sporting event will run until Saturday, July 5th, 2025, featuring students from across four faculties in a display of talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Addressing a press briefing ahead of the games, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Christopher Ogbogbo, described the historic event as a major step in fostering student development and institutional unity.
“This inaugural edition of the Inter Faculty Games is a milestone for ADUN. It reflects our dedication to promoting physical and mental well-being, while building a holistic and supportive academic environment,” the vice chancellor stated.
Prof. Ogbogbo, who was represented by the University Bursar, Captain H.Y. Aliyu, noted that the event, beyond its competitive thrill, offers immense benefits, contributing to students’ academic performance, personal growth, and future readiness.
He also revealed that the institution has been registered to participate in the Nigerian University Games (NUGA) as a witness in the upcoming edition taking place in Jos later this year, before it participates fully in subsequent editions.
The participating faculties include Arts, Management and Social Sciences; Engineering, Technology and Maritime Studies; Law and Sciences. Nine sports events are slated for the games, including: Tennis, Table Tennis, Chess, Scrabble, Basketball, Archery, Volleyball, Football, and Track races (100m, 200m, 1500m, and 4×4 relay).
The Dean of Student Affairs, Dr Chinedu Chiejine, represented by the Student Affairs Officer, Mr Isaac Amaga, emphasised that the games will showcase student talent, foster camaraderie, and instil the values of fairness and teamwork.
“The ADUN Inter-Faculty Games 2025 promises to be a memorable celebration of youthful energy and campus unity. We believe this will become a proud tradition in years to come,” he said.
The Acting Sports Director, Mr Tervershimar Nder, mentioned that due to the number of participating faculties, most sports will commence at the knockout stage, except for Track events and Archery which will begin at the finals.
