2027: DTSG Uncovers Plot To Stir Public Disaffection

  • Responds To Critics With Projects In Udu

BY PATRICK MGBODO

DELTA State Government , on Monday, silenced critics of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori with an abundance of landmark projects, particularly in the Udu Local Government Area, just as the government said that it was  aware of a plot to stir public disaffection ahead of the 2027 general election.

Addressing journalists in Asaba, the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu said the government, while tolerant of opposing views is not unmindful of a plot to stir public disaffection ahead of the 2027 general elections.

‘’Some individuals are going behind to sponsor people to say and raise issues that are not in any way connected to the realities on the ground. We needed to make this clarification so that you understand that there is something beyond what you see on the surface’’ Aniagwu said.

The state’s spokesman commended critics in the Udu local government area for recognizing that the Oborevwori administration has ensured an even distribution of projects across the local government areas, irrespective of voting patterns in the last general elections.

‘’What that means is that they have been able to recognize that Governor Oborevwori is not discriminatory, even among those local government areas that voted the other way.

‘’So, we congratulate them for even noting that we are bringing development to those areas where we did not get votes. However, we needed to remind them, just in case they are sponsored, of those projects that have become the hallmark of the Oborevwori administration and that our brothers and sisters in Udu have always and will always remain a part of the MORE Agenda”, Aniagwu said.

The Information Commissioner recalled some projects executed by Governor Oborevwori in the Udu Local Government Area and its environs, including the Udu Harbour Market, which is costing the state government N4.8 billion, and the DSC Flyover, which leads into Udu.

Other projects he mentioned are the rehabilitation and resurfacing of the 1.360km CAC road with drains, the construction of 1km Bazi road and drains in Aladja, the rehabilitation of the 12 km Ekakpamre/Ekopre/Osiefron/ Orumorun road and drains in Ughelli South and Udu local government areas, and the reconstruction of the 4.7km Okpete road and drains.

Other road projects in Udu include the construction of 1km Awolo Street and drains in Ohio town, the construction of the 590m Chief Godwin Okporuko Crescent and drains (Phase One and Two), among other internal roads in the local government area and its environs.

‘’As an administration, we have also undertaken the revamping of four primary healthcare centres in Udu Local Government Area. We have also supplied 4D Ultrasound scan machines to the General Hospital in Otor-Udu.

‘’We have also intervened in education. At the moment, construction is ongoing at the world-class JAMB ICT Centre at Ogbe-Udu Secondary School, installation of solar-power street lights, renovation of classroom blocks, offices and toilets in several secondary schools in Udu Local Government, among other ongoing projects.

‘’We needed to mention these so that our people, particularly the young ones know how to appreciate the efforts of the government. It is our responsibility to bring development to our people and we are doing just that.

‘’We expect our people to cooperate with us and not allow individuals who have a different agenda to push them to progress in error during the 2027 general elections.
