To take youths out of the streets and divert their energies to useful ventures, the management of Trixwin Hotel, located in Ogwashi-Uku, headquarters of Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, has organized a tennis championship, which saw the participants smiling home with cash gifts, as well as mentoring on ways to put their God-given talents to positive use.
The CEO of Trixwin Hotel, High Chief (Barr.) Adimabua Okoh, said it would be an annual competition, adding that it is one of the Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) of the hotel.
He said the management of the hotel is committed to the well-being of people in the society, particularly youths who have an abundance of talents which can be shaped for national development in sports and other sectors.
Tagged “Trixwin Hotel Tennis Championship”, it had the active involvement of a prominent public figure, Prince Chukwuka Eboji, alias General.
Speaking, the “General” said that as a philanthropist and well-meaning individual, he is interested in youth development, adding that he partnered Trixwin Hotel in making the tennis championship a platform for discovering future talents that will bring sporting glory to the state and country.
The table tennis challenge, which was held at the hotel’s premises, located along Isah Road, Ogwashi-Uku featured 10 contestants, divided into Trixwin Team and the General’s Team.
The contestants slugged it out on the table tennis board, with a large audience cheering them on. At the end of heated encounters among contestants, David Ozah, a former Polytechnic Games champion in table tennis, who represented Team General, carried the day with a cash prize of N100, 000, leaving Blessed Afamefuna (Trixwin Team) and Victor Aka-Ogu (Team General) in 2nd and 3rd positions, with cash prizes of N60, 000 and N40, 000 respectively.
The competition was attended by notable dignitaries, including Mr. Awele Nwabuokei.
The remaining participants received a total of N100, 000, while the organizers got N100, 000.
