Persons in positions of authority in the country have been charged to de-emphasize self- aggrandizement and focus on impacting and touching lives, which is the essence of service.
The Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Prof Epiphany Azinge, gave the charge when the member representing the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Ngozi Okolie, visited him with some members of the Labour Party in Oshimili South Local Government Area. He noted that it behoved leaders at all levels to be committed to making sacrifices and ensuring selfless service for the good of the people, expressing delight that Hon Okolie had done well as the representative of Aniocha/Oshimili people and deserved commendation.
The Asagba said although traditional rulers were apolitical, he would not fail to appreciate the Federal Lawmaker for not only being the pride of the Asaba community, but also of the state, describing his diplomatic style of representation as the surest way to drive his mandate from the minority camp.
The foremost traditional ruler observed that Hon Okolie was not the noisy kind of representative, explaining that what mattered most was his ability to attract development to the people.
Azinge thanked Ngozi Okolie for his supportive role in seeing him through the process of ascending the throne, not as a politician but as an illustrious son of Asaba, noting that the Lawmaker had continued to identify with the growth and development of the community going forward, especially with the pledge to fund the pavilion project of the Permanent Palace Building at an estimated cost of N500 million.
Speaking earlier, the House of Reps member said the visit was to pay homage to the Asagba, in conclusion of his tour of communities in the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency.
Hon Okolie disclosed that a lot of projects had been earmarked for execution in the Federal Constituency, in the coming months, assuring that Asaba would not be left out in the scheme of things.
He thanked the people of Asaba for their support for the Labour Party in the 2023 elections and promised to continue to serve the interest of the people of Aniocha/Oshimili in the National Assembly, even without being loud about it.
