11-Year-Old Innocent Wins Gymnastics Gold For Delta

11-YEAR-OLD Glory Innocent yesterday stunned spectators as she grabbed two gold medals in gymnastics for Delta at the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba.

The young athlete displayed remarkable skill and composure to clinch gold medals in both the Power Tumbling and Double Mini- Trampoline (DMT) events, as Delta looked to continue their climb on the medals table.

Glory’s dazzling performances drew loud cheers and applause from spectators, as well as her coach and teammates.

Speaking after her victories, the elated youngster thanked her coach for her support and encouragement and the State for the opportunity to represent them, and promised to continue working hard to reach greater heights.

On her part, Team Delta Coach, Chinedu Oyegbata, praised Innocent’s determination and expressed satisfaction that her efforts in training had paid off.

‘I am very proud and happy that we won these medals. The effort and practice in training them has paid off today. My effort was not in vain.

‘I a m encouraging the other athletes that did not win medals to not give up on themselves but keep on working hard because they are all winners’’ she said.

She, however, called for more investment in standard gymnastics equipment across the country, so as to give gymnasts the opportunity to train and perform better in future competitions.
