Women Are the Bedrock of Society, Says Okorodudu

  •  Assures NCWS of support

The Executive Director, Projects on the Board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Olorogun Dr Ebenezer Okorodudu has described women as the bedrock emphasizing their critical role in nation-building and community development.

Dr. Okorodudu stated this when a delegation of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Ughelli South Chapter, paid him a courtesy visit today, at the DESOPADEC corporate head office in Warri.

In his remarks, Chief Okorodudu assured the women of his unwavering support, promising to carry them along in his programmes and activities while thanking them for the visit and their continued encouragement.

Speaking on behalf of the delegate, the president of NCWS Ughelli South Chapter, Mrs Elizabeth Ayovuere, congratulated Dr. Okorodudu on his appointment as Executive Director, Projects, describing it as well-deserved and a call to greater service.

She said that his track record of service and commitment to community development distinguish him as a worthy ambassador of the people.

The group also used the occasion to appreciate Chief Okorodudu for the Town Hall meeting / Empowerment program he did last weekend, his recognition and invitation extended to the society, approval of the courtesy visit at very short notice and what he will do for the society now and immediate future to promote the well-being of the society.

Presenting their needs, the NCWS appealed for the establishment of a skill acquisition centre in Ughelli South to train women and girls, similar to those available at the national level in Abuja and at the state level in Asaba.

They further requested increased financial and material empowerment programmes, as well as allocation of opportunities and slots for NCWS members in ongoing and future initiatives.

The meeting was attended by HODs and aides of the Executive Director of Projects as well as members of the NCWS.
