Transfer: Delta SUBEB Chairman Warns Teachers, Orders Immediate Compliance

THE Executive Chairman, Delta State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon. Samuel Mariere has warned teachers and head teachers who were recently issued letters of transfer to report immediately to their new duty posts or face disciplinary action.

Mariere gave the warning, yesterday, during a monitoring visit to Ahabam Primary School, Asaba.

The SUBEB boss explained that the ongoing transfer and redeployment exercise was a directive from the Delta State Government, aimed at strengthening the basic education system by ensuring that capable and competent personnel were strategically deployed to schools across the state.

Mariere said government will not tolerate acts of insubordination, disobedience to official directives, or negligence of duty by any education personnel, stressing that compliance with the transfer directive was mandatory. The Executive Chairman expressed displeasure over the conduct of some teachers and head teachers, noting that it was unacceptable for school administrators to conduct themselves poorly in the presence of education stakeholders.

He stressed that leadership in schools required discipline, confidence, and professionalism, adding that any head teacher who cannot properly represent their school before stakeholders lacked the moral authority to impart the right values and knowledge to pupils.

“If you cannot represent your school well in the presence of stakeholders, what quality of knowledge can you impact in your pupils?” he queried.

As part of enforcement measures, the Head teacher of Ahabam Primary School, Mrs. Elizabeth Echimine, was suspended for flouting the transfer directive of the state government.
