BY FAVOUR PERCY-IDUBOR/ BENIN CITY

NOT  fewer than three persons were feared  dead following a violent clash between rival groups over the sharing of proceeds from alleged illegal revenue collection at a motor park in Ebo Quarters, Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State.

‎The crisis, which reportedly began Friday with the killing of one Courage, degenerated into retaliatory attacks between Saturday and Sunday in different parts of Benin City.

It was gathered that the violence led to the death of one Amen and another unidentified victim.

‎The development has heightened tension in the area, prompting swift intervention by the Edo State Special Security Squad (ESSSS), code-named Operation Flush Out Kidnappers and Cultists.

The squad, in a statement issued in Benin City by its Secretary, Izegaegbe John stated that firearms and ammunition were recovered during coordinated stop-and-search operations across strategic locations in the state.

He said the operation, carried out at Iriri off Airport Road and the Oluku axis, led to the recovery of arms from an abandoned vehicle after its occupants reportedly fled on sighting security operatives.

John stated that the intensified security sweep followed a directive from Governor Monday Okpebholo after the early morning killing reported on Friday, February 13, 2026 at Eboh Quarters.
