Security Tightened In Abraka As Police, Tonwe Dislodge Kidnappers’ Hideout

THERE was widespread jubilation in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, following a successful operation by the Nigeria Police, which led to the neutralisation of about seven suspected kidnappers believed to be Fulani herdsmen. The operation, which was executed by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO),Abraka and his men, restored a sense of safety and normalcy in the area.

In a swift response to the incident, the Director-General, Delta State Security Network, Chief David Tonwe, commended the gallant effort of the police. Chief Tonwe, who has been working relentlessly to improve security across various communities in Delta State, assured residents that government would not relent in its quest to rid the state of criminal elements.

Speaking shortly after the operation, Chief Tonwe urged the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies with credible information that could aid in the fight against crime. He noted that the operation was a clear demonstration of the state government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property.

The security chief further debunked rumours of escalating insecurity in the region. According to him, the proactive steps taken by security operatives, with the full backing of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, have significantly reduced criminal activities, particularly in flashpoint areas like Abraka.

Chief Tonwe lauded the state government for providing operational vehicles and other logistics support to security operatives, which, he said, has greatly enhanced their operational efficiency. He expressed optimism that, with sustained collaboration between security agencies and the public, Delta State would soon become one of the safest states in the country.

Meanwhile, residents of Abraka have continued to celebrate the recent security breakthrough, expressing gratitude to the state government and security agencies for their steadfastness. Many described the development as a new dawn for peace and order in the area and called for more security presence to consolidate the gains achieved so far.
