Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme has called on youths to remain law abiding and supportive of the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori administration, with the assurance of a brighter future.
Sir Onyeme made the call in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area, at the inauguration of the new executive of the apex youth body of the Ndokwa nation, IkolobieNdokwa.
The deputy governor, who was represented by an Executive Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters, Chief Godwin Mgbagbego said the state government had taken steps to help youths in the state to realize their potentials through various programmes coordinated by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
While urging the youths to take advantage of the existing opportunities, while expecting more, Sir Onyeme commended members of IkolobieNdokwa for mobilizing support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other candidates in the 2023 general election and charged the incoming executive to consolidate the achievements already recorded by the youth body.
In his remarks, the member representing the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Nnamdi Ezechi, who is also the Chairman, Board of Trustee of Ikolobie Ndokwa, charged the new executive and members of the body to be peace-loving and supportive of the Oborevwori administration and all the political leaders in Ndokwa nation.
Hon Ezechi said said he would continue to show genuine commitment to attracting more development to Ndokwa land, promising that the issue of lack of power supply in Ndokwa nation would soon be a thing of the past, as the relevant authorities were being engaged to find a lasting solution to the problem.
He appreciated the State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for his massive infrastructural development across the three senatorial districts, while also thanking former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who had been supportive of Ikolobie Ndokwa since its inception.
Earlier, the outgone President of Ikolobie Ndokwa, Chief Anslem Nzete said he was excited to have led to youth body to an enviable height, while the new President of the umbrella youth body, Comrade Fidelis Azaka, promised to build on the legacy of his predecessor, assuring that the group would align with the State Governor and political leaders in Ndokwa nation to ensure peace in the land. The event featured an interactive session, a talk on “The role of the Youths in Nation Building” delivered by Dr. Emmanuel Ndumdi Orji, as well as the swearing-in of the new 24 – member executive.
