Over 500 Benefit As Ambrose Lee Heart Foundation Holds Health Outreach

Not less than 500 persons in Asaba, the Delta State Capital, have benefited from the inaugural health outreach of a non-profit, non-governmental organisation, Ambrose Lee Heart and Adolescent Foundation, which has reached out to over 500.

The outreach, held at the St. Brigid’s Catholic Church, Asaba, was in collaboration with the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) of St Brigid’s Catholic Church.
The event featured Body Mass Index (BMI) evaluation, congenital heart disease screening, glaucoma screening, nutritional assessment, hypertension and diabetes screening, health education, and adolescent mentoring sessions, with appropriate referrals made to specialists.

The founder, a Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba, Lady (Dr) Oghenetega Idaboh, said the foundation was inspired by personal experiences and named in honour of her late father, Mr Igho Ambrose.

She said the foundation’s mission is to connect children and families to essential healthcare, particularly identifying those with congenital heart diseases and linking them with individuals and organisations that can support access to life-saving cardiac surgeries.

Dignitaries in attendance at the outreach included Rev. Fr. Uche Nwanwochie (Parish Priest, St. Brigid’s Church), Sir Okey Ofili (former Delta State Head of Service), the Grand Knight, KSM Asaba Sub-council, Sir Andrew Uwaje, Chief Tony Ezeagwu, among others.

Other members of the Board of Trustees include her husband, Dr Idaboh Okediachi, a philanthropist, Engr. Ephraim Ndidi Osubor, Dr. (Mrs.) Aghogho Benedicta Akpe, a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Dr Ambrose-Igho Gare, a geoscientist based in America.
She said the foundation looked forward to further collaborations and community engagement aimed at improving the health and general well-being of children, adolescents and their families in Nigeria.
