The ongoing phase of the Storm Drainage Project in the West End area of Asaba, Delta State capital has been described as a ‘miracle’ infrastructure.
The drainage is designed to channel flood water from DLA road, Jesus Saves Road, part of West End and through Anwai road to the River Niger.
Speaking in a chat with newsmen in Asaba, former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Peter Onwusanya said the project is one of the wonders of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori administration that uplifts the capital city.
According to him, besides the West End drainage, the Ogbeilo-Ogbeke Square Storm drainage was dear to the hearts of the residents who have suffered hardship due to floods taking over the roads, houses and shops after rains.
He noted that from the administration of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, floods in major centers of Asaba had been reduced considerably due to the project that now ensured that floods are taking off the streets minutes after the rains.
The former speaker commended the Governor, Rt. Hon. Oborevwori for sustaining the drive to make Asaba a well-developed capital city, adding that with projects like the Asaba Waterfront City, Asaba International Market, etc, the capital city will soon become a tourist destination and an economic hub.
Rt. Hon. Onwusanya expressed confidence that the governor will prosecute his MORE Agenda satisfactorily and to the benefit of Deltans and urged for continued support to him and his administration.
While saying that the Asaba people were proud of him, he also assured the governor that the people of Oshimili South Local Government Area and Delta North in general would support him and President Bola Tinubu as their candidates for the 2027 general elections.
