The Treasurer of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Worldwide, Eunice Okoh has commended the people of Udu Kingdom for the successful coronation of their new monarch, HRM (Engr.) Mike Orugbo, Okporua 1.
Speaking to our correspondent during a chat in Effurun at the weekend, Okoh praised the swift and peaceful selection process.
Okoh noted that the selection and crowning of the new Ovie of Udu Kingdom was completed within a short period after the demise of the immediate past Ovie, without litigation or bloodshed. She alluded this to the civilized and peaceful nature of Udu people. She equally praised the Otota of Udu Kingdom, Chief Moses Odibo for successfully piloting the affairs of the kingdom until Orugbo’s emergence.
While calling for the presentation of the staff of office to Okporua 1, Okoh described the new Ovie as “a square peg in a square hole,” noting his credentials as a well-educated, seasoned oil industry engineer who is influential and well-connected.
She congratulated Okporua 1 and prayed for his long, peaceful and prosperous reign in the kingdom.
