Oborevwori, Onojaeme Receive Accolades from Political Group

A political group and advocate of good governance, the Isoko Ideological Class (IIC) in Delta State, has thrown its weight behind the implementation of the MORE Agenda and the promotion of youth-inclusive governance.

The patriotic group, during a media parley with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, lauded the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori-led administration for its unwavering commitment to youth engagement in strategic leadership positions.

Addressing journalists at the NUJ Press Centre in Asaba, the Chairman, Ufuoma Urugbezi( IIC), Director-General, Ugagaoghene Ogheneyole, and members of the state executive expressed the group’s unflinching confidence in the overall leadership and achievements of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, alongside the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme.

He stated: “Today, Delta State is witnessing a new wave of sporadic development across all sectors of government, all thanks to Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori. What makes his performance even more remarkable is how he emerged as governor.

“Most significantly is youth inclusion in governance. Today, the State Executive Council is populated by individuals within the youth bracket. No administration in the history of Delta State has engaged more youths in strategic leadership positions than this one.

The group, which address was titled: “State Of Governance In Delta State”, mooted Oborevwori for appointing an industrious Isoko son to a key cabinet position. “The greatest gift he gave to the Isoko Nation was appointing a fellow youth from our place as the Commissioner for Health.”

They described Dr. Joseph Onojaeme as a pride to the Isoko people, noting that he has delivered on his mandate, performed exceptionally, and promoted a politics of inclusion, unity, and youth empowerment.

Furthermore, the group highlighted Onojaeme’s major contributions to the state’s healthcare sector, describing his efforts as elevating the system to international standards. They cited the procurement of multi-billion-naira, cutting-edge medical equipment, as a bold step toward transforming healthcare delivery in the state.

Some of the notable procurements include:25 units of 4D user-friendly ultrasound scanners,two rugged, German-manufactured CT scan machines to be distributed across the three senatorial districts,eight dialysis machines: three for Central Hospital, Warri; two for Delta State University Teaching Hospital, Oghara; and three for Asaba Specialist Hospital (ASH),  provided by the state government.

Other significant contributions include: the identify and expunged the names of 301 ghost health workers in government payroll, employment of 40 house officers, increase slot for training house officers, and the recruitment of over 600 healthcare staff and salary review.

Also, is the expansion of medical education and the healthcare workforce: combating brain drain in the healthcare system,implementation of the Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF) payment in Delta State,strengthening of nursing education and upgrading of institutions, as well as sustaining health financing through the Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC), and taskforce activities against counterfeit and fake drugs.

The group reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote good governance, youth inclusion, and expressed a strong vote of confidence in the performance of the Commissioner for Health.
