- Nakey Urges Support For MORE Agenda
Dr. Favourmarthins Nakey is a Deltan, a businessman, a philanthropist, community leader and grassroots politician. In this interview with Ifeanyi Omenogor, he spoke on the recent defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and others from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the MORE Agenda, security issues and many more. Excerpt.
Sir, can we know you?
I am Dr Favourmarthins Nakey, the Chief Executive Officer of Fost HoneyComb Group Limited and also the founder of Vision One Billion Souls Foundation.
What do you have to say over the recent defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori from PDP to APC?
Good question, the defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to APC is for the general good of the people and the state, I must say the defection at first pained me personally, but you see they are in the know of things than us, that is, they see more. However, I am already making a solid preparation to mobilize people and give him the needed support come 2027.
Though the state has been in opposition for over ten years, yet Governor Oborevwori is performing well, developing the state with his MORE Agenda.
It will interest you to know that even without defection to APC, Oborevwori was performing and would have still win his election come 2027, judging from his notable achievements that are spread across the state. So, he has a vision to develop all parts of the state.
Sir, do you see the defection as something that will bring more development to the state?
As I said, Oborevwori has been performing well in all ramifications since his inception in office, he has the vision of developing Delta State, even the awards he had so far received are pointer that he has the interest of the state at heart so defection or no defection he will continue with vision of developing the state.
Sir, is the MORE Agenda of the state Governor really working?
The MORE Agenda of Governor Oborevwori is working, especially with some notable development in Warri and other parts of the state, so, Governor Oborevwori should focus more on security, because security challenges are facing some parts of the state and the country in general. He should therefore, solidify the security agencies in the state by giving more supports to the vigilantes and other security agencies for effective community policing.
Oborevwori should also work hard through his MORE Agenda to ensure stable electricity supply to Deltans because there is no stable electricity in any part of the state.
Do you have more advice for the Governor?
The advice I have for him is that he should be focus and never allow his defection to APC change the good programmes he has for the state. He should also look into the sufferings of the people in Asaba and other parts of the state especially now that landlords are increasing house rents in Asaba arbitrary daily, Government should look into it and address it for the interest of the masses. The governor should also create job opportunities for the youths and ensure better environment for businesses to thrive.
What do you have to say to Deltans?
I want to call on Deltans to continue to support Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and vote for him massively come 2027 election. The governor is doing well and must be supported to development all parts of the state, as he is doing at present.
