The immediate past Governor of Delta State, Sen Ifeanyi Okowa has described the late Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi as an astute politician and a strong voice of the Anioma people who made significant contributions to the growth and development of the state.
In an emotional tribute at the Asaba residence of the late Nwaoboshi, Sen Okowa, who lamented Nwaoboshi’s passing, noted that Delta State and the Anioma nation had lost one of their most committed and outspoken political figures.
The former Governor noted that Sen Nwaoboshi was fearless in his approach to politics and a fighter for the good of his people, adding that as a founding State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he contributed a lot in the mobilisation of the people to the party’s victory in the 1999 elections.
Sen Nwaoboshi, according to him, rose to become a state Chairman of the PDP and eventually became a Senator for Delta North between 2015 and 2023, pointing out that Anioma in particular and Delta have lost a dependable voice that consistently stood for justice, equity and development.
The former governor, who is the Coordinator, Renewed Hope Initiative in South-South, therefore, prayed for the peaceful repose of Nwaoboshi’s soul, pointing out that the late politician had completed his earthly assignment to the glory of God.
“My dear brother, Sen. Chief Peter Nwaoboshi is gone. A great brother, astute politician and a strong voice for the Anioma people.
“He was fearless in his approach to politics and a fighter for the good of his people. He has made great contributions to the growth of our dear state, Delta.
“As founding State Secretary of the PDP, Delta, he contributed a lot to the mobilisation of our people to our victory in the 1999 elections.
“He rose to become a state Chairman of the PDP and eventually became our Senator, Delta North in year 2015 – 2023.
“You have done your bit and accomplished your assignment to God’s glory. Anioma in particular and Delta have lost a voice that could be dependable.
“We missed you, my brother Peter. May your soul rest in the Lord. Adieu, my brother Peter,” Okowa wrote in a condolence register open in honour of the outspoken and fearless politician.
In a related development, Sen Okowa paid a condolence visit to the Chairman of Delta State Civil Service Commission, Mrs Roseline Amioku who lost her son on Thursday, in Asaba.
He commiserated with the Amioku family and prayed for God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, urging them to take solace in the fact that the departed had gone to rest in the Lord.
