THE Chairman , Udu Local Government Area, Hon. Vincent Oyibode, has extended warm felicitations to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, the people of Udu, and Nigerians worldwide as the nation marks its 65th Independence anniversary.
In a goodwill message, Oyibode described the milestone as a moment for sober reflection, renewed patriotism, and unity.
He noted that while the country continues to grapple with economic and security challenges, the resilience and courage of Nigerians remain the nation’s strongest assets in sustaining the vision of its founding fathers.
‘Independence is not just a celebration of freedom from colonial rule; it is the recognition of the vision and sacrifice of nationalists such as Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Chief Anthony Enahoro, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and many others who laid the foundation of a united and independent Nigeria. Their dream was for a nation bound by peace, justice, equity, and prosperity. At 65, we must keep that dream alive,’ he said.
The Council Chairman commended Governor Oborevwori for his people-oriented governance and described him as a patriotic leader whose MORE Agenda continues to bring visible development across Delta State. He also praised the people of Udu for their loyalty to democratic ideals and unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s progress.
Oyibode further charged Nigerians to remain steadfast and hopeful, stressing that no nation achieves greatness without trials. According to him, ‘What makes a nation strong is the perseverance of her citizens, the integrity of her leaders, and the unbroken belief in her destiny.’
While praying for peace, stability, and prosperity in Nigeria, Oyibode reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to grassroots development in Udu and pledged continued synergy with the Delta State Government to advance the welfare of all Deltans.
