The National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU) has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the Chairman of the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board, Hon. Shedrack Agediga, for their steadfast commitment to the welfare of Delta students across the country.
The commendation came when the National Joint Executive Council of NADESSTU, led by its President, Comr. Oweiotu-ebi Oyinkare-ebi Joseph paid a courtesy visit to the Board in Asaba. The Association described Governor Oborevwori as a “student-friendly leader” whose MORE Agenda has continued to prioritise education and student support in Delta State.
Speaking during the visit, Comrade Oweiotu-ebi expressed gratitude to Governor Oborevwori for policies that have positioned Delta as a hub of educational excellence.
He also applauded Hon. Agediga and his team for ensuring that the Governor’s vision translates into tangible benefits for indigent students.
While thanking them for their efforts, the NADESSTU leader appealed for a review and upward increment of the bursary scheme to cushion the effects of rising living costs on students. The Association also used the occasion to announce its forthcoming NADESSTU at the 30th Anniversary Celebration, a landmark event marking three decades of championing student welfare, leadership development, academic excellence, and socio-cultural integration.
In his remarks, Hon. Agediga welcomed the student leaders and reaffirmed the Board’s resolve to sustain its partnership with NADESSTU in advancing the Governor’s MORE Agenda. He urged institutions to maintain proper records to facilitate seamless bursary disbursement.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr Godfrey Enita, also called on students to uphold discipline, peace, and good conduct as key values for academic and personal success.
The meeting, which ended with a vote of thanks by NADESSTU Vice President, Comrade Jennifer Nnabuife, further highlighted the Association’s appreciation for Governor Oborevwori and Hon. Agediga’s commitment to student welfare.
She assured that NADESSTU remains a reliable partner in the collective effort to promote the well-being of Delta State students nationwide.
Other members of the NADESSTU executive in attendance included the Director of Socials, Comrade Faith Kimora, and the Director of Sports, Comrade Victor Obijenu.
