The Chairman, Ughelli North Local Government, Barr. Jaro Egbo has reiterated his commitment to ensuring drastic eradication of incidences of abduction of persons in the communities that make up the council area.
Egbo made this know while speaking to newsmen after the court sitting where Mr. Lucky Peter was arraigned in a Magistrate Court in Ofuoma, Ughelli on the account of attempted child abduction incidence, which occurred recently in Oveto street in Ughelli.
The defendant, Mr. Luck Peter was accused of attempted child abduction, which occurred at the residence of Madam Favour at Oveto Street in Ughelli, when he attempted to abduct her three months old child but was apprehended and handed over to law enforcement agents.
Egbo said he was instrumental in the arraignment of the defendant as he wanted justice to be served, hence his presence at the court session was part of his commitment to securing lives and properties and curbing the dangerous trend of child abduction in the area,
“I am here today to fulfil the promise I made to ensure we follow every legal and logical path in seeking justice for victims of child abduction. Our administration is one of law, order and compassion. We will not relent until justice is served,” he said. Also speaking after the court proceedings, the Prosecuting Counsel, Barr. Stewart Egedegbe, said the defendant has been granted bail by the court on certain near impossible conditions which was the bail set at N5m with a level 16 Civil Servant standing as surety for the bail process.
“If he meets these conditions, he will be released, otherwise he will remain in custody of the Police,” he remarked.
