THE Okpara-Uku of Idumuesah Kingdom, HRM John Arimoro Alika, has inaugurated the new executive members of the Idumuesah Progressive Union (IPU), with Chief Angus Obima-Nwali appointed as President- General.
The inauguration ceremony, held at the palace of Idumuesah Kingdom, was well attended by community elders and representatives from the Idumuesah Kingdom Council of Chiefs, Elders, and others.
The executive members, representing various quarters of the Idumuesah community, were assigned different positions within the Union.
The newly inaugurated IPU executives are as follows: Chief Angus Obima-Nwali, President-General; Hon. Patrick Paddy Ozue, Vice President-General; Mr Israel Egbule, General Secretary; Mr Andrew Ehiyem, Treasurer; Mr Lawrence Egbule, Financial Secretary; Mr Bright Kifi, Assistant General Secretary; Mrs Faith Azogbulem, Assistant Financial Secretary; Mr Monday Nwaokolo, Public Relations Officer; Okalika Mathew, Auditor; Mr Ifeanyi Igweh, Mrs Mercy Chibuogwu, and Mr Chukwudi Makonor, Provosts; Mr Chukwuedu Onyetoelu, Mr Michael Iduh, Mr Joseph Irubor, Mr Anthony Egwabor, and Mr Jeremiah Njekwume, Ex-Officios.
In his opening remarks, Okpara-Uku Alika encouraged the new President-General, Chief Obima-Nwali, and his team to work collaboratively towards the development of Idumuesah Kingdom.
The monarch emphasised that cooperation among committee members is essential for achieving positive outcomes.
Offering prayers for the newly inaugurated executives, the monarch assured them of the full support of the elders and the Council of Chiefs. He advised them to seek counsel from the elders, particularly concerning their essential needs.
The monarch also urged the executives to utilise their positions for community service and to refrain from actions that might undermine the community’s trust and confidence in them.
He concluded with a directive for Chief Obima-Nwali and his team to commence the construction of a modern community hall for Idumuesah Kingdom, which he said would be named Ibili Hall upon completion.
Other speakers at the ceremony included Chief Simeon Otonekwu, the Eribo of Idumuesah Kingdom; Chief Okoh Francis, the Okwuezekwu of Idumuesah Kingdom; Onotor Chukwuka, the Wanobaeze of Idumuesah; and Deacon Oshiagu Patrick. They all highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability in the new administration.
The speakers expressed their confidence in the committee and encouraged them to leverage their experience and commitment to serve the community effectively.
In his response on behalf of the newly inaugurated Executive Committee of the Idumuesah Progressive Union, Chief Angus Obima-Nwali expressed gratitude to the entire Idumuesah Kingdom for their support in making the inauguration ceremony a success.
He called on all indigenes of the community to fully support the new IPU executive to ensure positive results in their dedicated service.
