Ezewu Commends Vcare Foundation For Advancing Science Education In Delta

THE Delta State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, has commended the Vcare for Development Foundation (VCDF) for its contribution to strengthening science education and fostering innovation among students in the state.

Ezewu gave the commendation during the finale of the “Igniting Minds Through Science’’ project exhibition, held at Utagba-Ogbe Government Secondary School, Kwale, for 11 senior secondary schools drawn from Ndokwa West and Ndokwa East local government areas.

The event, a collaboration between the Ministry of Secondary Education and Vcare for Development Foundation, marked the conclusion of the exhibition aimed at promoting creativity, scientific thinking, and innovative problem-solving among secondary school students.

According to Ezewu, who was represented at the occasion by the Director, Science Education, Mrs. Hope Igumbor , the foundation’s efforts have boosted the effectiveness and efficiency of teaching and learning in the participating schools, helping to bridge critical gaps and complement the MORE Agenda of the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

Ezewu congratulated the participating schools and encouraged the students to see themselves as winners, noting that being selected for the exhibition already demonstrates excellence and ingenuity.

The Assistant Manager, Health of the Vcare for Development Foundation (VCDF), Dr. Duke Edem, said that the goal of the organisation’s science exhibition and competition was to ignite creativity and innovation among science students in government secondary schools across Delta State.

According to him, exposing students to practical science projects and competitions would stimulate their interest in science and technology while encouraging them to think creatively and develop solutions to real-life challenges.

Also speaking, VCDF Programme Manager in Delta State, Mr. Daniel Obamina, reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable families, communities, and critical government institutions.

He disclosed that the organisation has empowered more than 50,000 beneficiaries through its four thematic pillars, namely, Integrated Healthcare Systems, Comprehensive Education, Gender and Social Inclusion, and Sustainable Livelihoods.

At the end of the exhibition, Utagba-Ogbe Technical College emerged overall winner, while Abbi Girls Comprehensive School and Girls Secondary School took second and third positions respectively.

Other participating schools included Ase Grammar School, Ashaka Mixed Secondary School, Igbuku Secondary School, Isumpe Mixed Secondary School, Mixed Secondary School Okpai, Oduga Secondary School Ushie, Ossissa Secondary School, and Utagba-Ogbe Grammar School.
