Erijo Persuades Intellectuals To Support Oborevwori

The Chief of Staff, Delta State Government House, Hon. Prince Johnson Erijo, has said the state government does not take the support of intellectuals for Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori administration for granted.

Erijo, who made this known when a delegation of the Coalition of Academics for Sheriff, comprising mainly of professors, paid him a courtesy visit, said though the good works of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori had earned him deserving recognition and accolades from individuals, groups and organizations, the appreciation of intellectuals speaks  volumes.

The Chief of Staff noted that the Governor was focused on implementing the M. O. R. E. Agenda of his administration, which he came prepared with, leaving his critics, who never gave him no chance to succeed, roundly perplexed. He pointed out that Oborevwori’s leadership qualities saw him through as Speaker of the State House of Assembly for six consecutive years, which he noted was not a mean feat, adding that as a home – bred grassroots politician, the Governor had a good understanding of the needs of Deltans and was working assiduously to address them.

Hon Erijo thanked the Academics for the visit and assured them of the solicited collaboration, so that together with other groups supporting the Governor, the 2027 election would be seamlessly prosecuted.

While acknowledging that they controlled a good measure of influence in the society, especially in the academic environment, the Chief of Staff urged the Coalition to extend the same level of support they had for the Governor to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom the state had aligned with his administration for the greater good of Deltans. Earlier in an address, the leader of the delegation and Coordinator of the Coalition, Prof Lawrence Omo-Aghoja, said theirs was a group of progressive and forward-looking academics who had organized to support Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

This, he explained, they were doing by being at the vanguard of showcasing the impactful outcome indicators of the good governance being expoused by the Governor, making regular propositions for the enhancement of government policy directions from systemic reviews of the implementation of the M.O.R.E. Agenda and generating the needed support for the 2027 political campaign and election.

Prof Omo-Aghoja said the goal of the group was to work with the relevant stakeholders and institutions of government to provide a robust intellectual and strategic embellishment to different aspects of government policy agenda, and ultimately extend same to the 2027 campaign planning, processes and implementation, as a way of contributing to the re-election of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
