THE Delta State Government has been urged to employ more health promoters for effective service delivery in primary health facilities within rural communities in Aniocha North Local Government Area.
Kenneth Okafor, who gave the charge at a short send-forth party organised by the Health Department of the council, recently, in Issele-Uku, pleaded with the local government authority to revamp and rehabilitate the office complex of the health department and also expand the complex.
Okafor pleaded for the government to employ more temporary and permanent personnel in the department for efficient service delivery and productivity in the health sector, stressing that the existing primary health facility is not sufficient to accommodate the population of people within Issele-Uku metropolis and its environs.
While commending Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his tremendous strides achieved in the health sector, he pointed out that communities like Issele-Azagba, Issele-Uku, Onicha-Ugbo, and Obior require more primary health facilities.
Okafor said that the government has done a lot in training and retraining health promoters in the state and initiating programmes that would improve their services, while pleading for more facilities and more personnel.
He encouraged the government to continue providing counterpart funding by the local government area in the various health programmes, while admonishing health promoters in Aniocha North to continue to do good work, remain focused, dedicated, and dutiful through commitment to enhance better service delivery.
