THE Delta State Government has ordered the redeployment of the Principal of Sapele Technical College, Sapele, Mrs Rosemary Itawansa, following serious administrative and disciplinary infractions.
This was contained in a statement issued to The Pointer by the Ministry of Technical Education.
The statement said, ‘’In a letter addressed to the Permanent Secretary, Directors and Principals of Delta State Technical Colleges, the ministry disclosed that a monitoring exercise conducted on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, to assess compliance with the resumption of second-term academic activities at Sapele Technical College revealed several disturbing shortcomings.
‘’According to the report, the visit showed the absence of security personnel at the school gate, a bushy and untidy environment and unauthorised activities within the school premises, including farming and wood milling.
‘’Other issues identified included exorbitant fees allegedly being collected from students, refusal to adhere to approved teaching guidelines for trade courses, lack of administrative competence in supervising the school and the aiding and abetting of “ghosting” among National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted to the institution.
‘’The ministry further recalled that the affected Principal had on several occasions been verbally warned over conduct in the administration of the school, but failed to make the necessary corrections. ‘’It also cited a previous directive issued via a letter dated January 19, 2024 (Ref. No. MTE/SQA/82/33), posting the Principal to Model Technical College, Obiaruku, which was reportedly disobeyed. A subsequent query and response, in which political commitments were cited as reasons for non-compliance, were also noted.
‘’Consequently and in line with disciplinary procedures, the Ministry has approved the redeployment of the Principal from Sapele Technical College to the Ministry of Technical Education, Asaba, for further posting. The principal is directed to hand over to the most senior teacher and resume duties at the Ministry on Monday, January 19, 2026.
‘’The Ministry reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards of discipline, accountability, and professionalism across all technical colleges in the state, stressing that no act of insubordination or administrative misconduct will be condoned.
