DELTA State Government has reiterated its resolve to build livable and affordable houses to satisfy the growing housing needs of Deltans.
The Commissioner, Ministry of Housing, Hon. Godknows Angele made the statement in Asaba during a courtesy call by the Asaba chapter of Real Estate Developer Association of Nigeria (REDAN).
Angele said that the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori administration was determined to partner with REDAN to address the housing deficit issue in the s tate, adding that such collaboration would not only address problems associated with the housing sector but also set the pace for many more interventions.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Real Estate Developers’ Association of Nigeria (REDAN), Mr. Caesar Odede, ESQ described REDAN as an association poised to meet the expectations of its stakeholders and serve as an effective pressure group that would drive legislation and processes aimed at providing affordable real estate environment in Delta.
According to Mr. Odede, REDAN was saddled, amongst other things , with the responsibility to “assemble, define and publish appropriate standard for better interchange and operation of real estate developer in a bid t o confirm stipulated building standard and planning laws, and to maintain the highest standards of professional conduct and best practices in the construction of mass housing estates.”
The REDAN chairman said possible areas of collaboration with the state government might not be limited to developing jointly affordable housing estate across the state, proposed medical estate of 250 units in the state capital and the provision of access roads to Federal government estate projects.
