BY EVELYN ZORZOR

THE wife of Delta State Governor, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori has officially flagged-off the distribution of Teaching and Learning Materials (TLM) to public primary schools across the state, reaffirming the government’s commitment to improving the quality of basic education and ensuring that no child is left behind.

The event, organized by the Delta State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), was held  yesterday at the board’s office in Asaba.

Speaking at the ceremony, the First Lady commended the pupils who performed during the programme, describing their presentations as excellent and a clear reflection of the immense potential within Delta’s young population.

She noted that the distribution of the learning materials represents a critical step toward strengthening the education system and improving learning outcomes for children across the state.

According to her, the materials would significantly enhance the learning experiences of pupils and provide teachers with the necessary tools to deliver effective lessons.

She emphasized that the state government remains committed to building a future of hope for every child, stressing that no child should be left out in the collective effort to develop the next generation.

The First Lady also appreciated the distributors and stakeholders involved in the process, charging them to ensure that the materials reach the intended beneficiaries.

She urged them to remain diligent and transparent in the distribution process so that the noble efforts behind the initiative would not be wasted.

The Governor’s wife further called on all stakeholders to support the shared vision of building a future free from discrimination, where every child has access to quality education and equal opportunities to succeed.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of SUBEB, Hon. Samuel Mariere, highlighted the impact of the board’s interventions in strengthening primary education across the state.

He said the board has continued to implement policies and programmes aimed at improving teaching standards, enhancing infrastructure, and supporting schools with critical learning resources.

As part of the programme, about 50 schools across Delta State received ₦280,000 each as School Improvement Funds to support development initiatives and improve the learning environment within their respective institutions.

Items distributed during the event included free textbooks, notebooks, visual learning aids, farming implements, and other educational materials designed to support both academic and practical learning in schools.

Education stakeholders at the event noted that the initiative would go a long way in equipping schools with essential resources and promoting effective teaching and learning across Delta State.
