DTSG Begins Registration Of Artisans, Trade Unions

BY PATRICK MGBODO

THE Delta State Government has commenced the registration of individual traders, artisans, and unions operating within the informal sector, as part of efforts to streamline and properly profile economic activities across the state.

According to a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Informal Sector Management and State Chairman, Chief Ifeanyi Abanum, individuals and groups who are yet to complete their registration under the State Informal Sector Artisans and Market Association Management are advised to do so without delay.

Chief Abanum said the exercise, which will run until the last week of August 2025, is aimed at ensuring that all trades and unions are properly documented and integrated into the state’s development framework.

“All trades and unions are, as a matter of urgency, expected to visit the Office of Informal Sector Management with proof of Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration. The office is located at the Mechanic Village along the Onitsha-Benin Expressway, Asaba’’ he said.

The government reiterated that proper identification and profiling will not only ensure inclusiveness and accountability but also enhance service delivery to operators within the informal sector.

Recall that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori recently reaffirmed his resolve to the development of the informal sector.
