FOLLOWING the successful launch of the Tertiary Institution Social Health Insurance Programme (TISHIP) at Dennis Osadebay University (DOU) and the University of Delta, Agbor, the Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC) has extended the programme to Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku.
At the official flag-off ceremony yesterday, the Director-General, DSCHC, Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, represented by the Director of Planning, Research, Statistics and ICT, Dr. Emmanuel Akpofure, described the event as a reaffirmation of the state government’s commitment to its MORE Agenda, with a focus on creating opportunities for all.
Dr. Akpoveta, while addressing students of DSPG, revealed that over 12,000 students from DOU and the University of Delta, Agbor, are already enrolled under TISHIP. He emphasized that the initiative is a strategic step to ensure structured health coverage within Delta State’s academic institutions.
He encouraged students of the Polytechnic to actively embrace the scheme and serve as ambassadors of the Commission’s vision for accessible healthcare.
“The Commission remains committed to delivering quality, affordable, and sustainable healthcare services across the state,” he stated.
Also speaking at the event, the Rector of Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku, Prof. Emmanuel Achuenu, represented by Deputy Rector, Dr. Joy Ahon, urged students to take full advantage of the program.
“Any nation or individual that desires meaningful development must prioritize health,” she said.
She further appealed to students to remain attentive and committed so they can contribute positively to the growth of the institution and the state.
