DENNIS Osadebay University (DOU), Asaba, Delta State, will tomorrow, hold its 3rd Inaugural Lecture as part of efforts to deepen scholarship, promote intellectual discourse and strengthen academic excellence within the institution.
The lecture, scheduled to take place at the university’s 500-capacity Auditorium, will be delivered by Prof Joyce Ogwezi, a distinguished Professor of Mass Communication.
Titled “Voices in the Cloud: Digital Disruptions and Gender Power Dynamics in Nigeria,” the lecture will explore the intersection of digital media, communication technologies and gender relations in contemporary Nigerian society. It is expected to highlight how online platforms are reshaping power structures, participation and representation in the digital age.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof Ben Oghojafor, Professor of Strategic and Entrepreneurial Management, on behalf of the Senate, staff and students, has invited members of the academic community, policymakers, media practitioners and the general public to attend the event.
Prof Ogwezi holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Benin, and Master’s and Doctorate degrees from the University of Ibadan. She has made notable contributions to teaching, research and scholarship in mass communication and media studies.
The event is expected to attract scholars, students and other stakeholders from within and outside the university community, as DOU continues to consolidate its academic traditions through its inaugural lecture series.
