The Diopka of Umuojeagu Royal Family of Issele-Azagba, Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State, Diokpa David Olih, has advised his subjects to maintain peace and decorum in pursuit of life endeavours.
The Diokpa made the plea while reacting to a newspaper publication purportedly dissolving the Umuojeagu Land Committee led by Prince Francis Obi, saying that at no time was such a decision taken to dissolve and set up another committee.
In a statement signed by the Secretary of Umuojeagu Royal Family, Issele-Azagba, Mr. Stephen Anonyia, on behalf of the Diokpa and royal family, the Diokpa stated that an emergency meeting was held yesterday, Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the residence of Diokpa David Olih of Umuojeagu Royal Family and chaired by Prince Andrew Igwenwanne of Umuojeagu Royal Family. A publication made in the Pointer Newspaper of Saturday, August 2, 2025, on page 17 by a certain group of persons in the family led by one MR. BENHILL ILLOH was discussed.
He explained that the family, after the attention of Diokpa David Olih, elders and leadership of Umuojeagu Royal Family, was drawn to the purported publication credited to one Benhill Illoh as the Diokpa of Umuojeagu Royal Family dissociated herself from, and disclaimed the said publication.
The statement added: “The only known and recognized Diokpa of Umuojeagu Royal Family of Issele-Azagba remains Diokpa David Olih and has not in any way approved the dissolution of the land committee led by Prince Francis Obi.
“The disturbing activities of the group prompted the ongoing case in suit no. HCI/18/2024: Diokpa David Olih Vs Achuzia Illoh and others at Issele-Uku High Court sitting at Onicha-Ugbo
“Besides, the tenure of the subsisting Land Committee led by Prince Francis Obi was extended for four years from December 1, 2023, to December 31, 2028, in a letter dated January 10, 2024, and signed by Diokpa David Olih, by the family in appreciation of credible, transparent performance and accountability.
“The entire Umuojeagu Royal Family of Issele-Azagba, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State is by this publication dissociates the entire quarter from the purported publication by Pointer Newspaper of 2nd August, 2025 on page 17. That whoever is dealing with the said group led by the so-called BENHILL ILLOH and his group as the Diokpa of Umujeagu Royal Family does so at their own risk”, he stated.
