AHEAD of the Christmas celebration, wife of Delta State Governor and Founder, You Matter Charity Foundation, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, yesterday, hosted wives of top government functionaries in the state.
The event, which saw in attendance, wives of members of the 7th and 8th Assemblies, commissioners’ wives and wives of local government Chairmen, was held to strengthen unity and fellowship among women married to political office holders in the state.
The First Lady, while addressing the gathering, described the event as a celebration of the women’s supportive roles in governance and community development.
According to her, their encouragement and understanding contribute significantly to the success of their spouses in public service and so thanked them for their sacrifices and continuous support.
The Governor’s wife engaged the women in an interactive session, during which issues bordering on family values, women’s support systems and community impact were discussed.
She emphasized the need for cooperation, mutual respect and shared responsibility among the wives in promoting peace and social cohesion across Delta State.
Her Excellency further stated that the Christmas season calls for reflection, love and generosity, urging the women to remain compassionate and supportive within their homes and communities. She encouraged them to continue serving as positive role models.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of Christmas gifts to the wives by the First Lady, as a token of appreciation for their commitment and partnership.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the gesture and commended her for her inclusive leadership.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the wife of the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Barr. Ifeoma Akpowowo, in her vote of thanks, relayed their gratitude to the first Lady, prayer for her and pledged their continued support for the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori administration.
The event ended with goodwill messages, fellowship and renewed commitment among the wives to support initiatives that promote unity, family wellbeing and development across the state.
