THE Chairman, Delta State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon. Samuel Mariere, has joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary on 1st October 2025, describing it as a historic moment of unity, reflection, and renewed hope for the country.
Speaking in Asaba during the commemoration, Hon. Mariere said Independence Day was not just a public holiday but a solemn reminder of Nigeria’s history, the sacrifices of its founding fathers, and the duty of every citizen to remain committed to the vision of a united and prosperous nation.
He commended Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Governor of Delta State, for his unwavering commitment to education, human capital, and infrastructural development, stressing that Delta State had continued to witness steady progress in the renovation and construction of classrooms, recruitment and training of teachers, provision of instructional materials, and promotion of inclusive learning across both urban and rural communities.
According to the SUBEB Executive Chairman, the Governor’s passion for education was evident in the massive transformation currently taking place across schools in Delta State. He said these strides were anchored on the M.O.R.E Agenda, which prioritizes Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security, adding that education remained at the heart of the administration’s vision.
“The Governor’s passion for education is changing the face of our schools,” Mariere noted. “Through the M.O.R.E Agenda, Delta is proving that quality education at the foundational level is possible, and our children are being prepared to compete with their peers anywhere in the world.”
He further explained that the current administration’s investments in infrastructure, empowerment programs, and social welfare initiatives were practical demonstrations of its determination to improve the living standards of the people while laying a stronger foundation for the younger generation.
Mariere reaffirmed SUBEB’s readiness to align with the Governor’s vision by ensuring effective implementation of educational policies, prudent management of resources, and continuous improvement in teaching and learning outcomes across the state.
While congratulating Deltans and Nigerians on the 65th Independence Anniversary, the SUBEB Executive Chairman called on citizens to remain patriotic, peaceful, and hopeful. He urged everyone to embrace unity and collective responsibility, stressing that these values were essential for national stability and long-term progress.
He also prayed for continued peace, stability, and development in Delta State and Nigeria, urging citizens to support the government’s efforts in building a society anchored on education, equity, and justice.
