Delta NYCN Chairmen Visit Dafinone, Seek Youth Empowerment Support

BY ENDURANCE IKANONE

THE Chairmen, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Delta Central Senatorial District has paid a courtesy visit to Senator Ede Dafinone at his country home, calling for increased legislative focus on youth empowerment, job creation, and skills development.

The youth leaders, who represent various local government chapters of the NYCN, raised concerns over the rising rate of unemployment among young people, lack of vocational training opportunities, and inadequate support for youth-led initiatives.

Receiving the delegation, Senator Dafinone expressed appreciation for the visit and assured the youth leaders of his commitment to addressing their concerns through legislative intervention and partnership with relevant stakeholders.

“I am pleased to receive this delegation of youth leaders. The issues you have raised are well noted and are in line with some of the priorities I have set in my legislative agenda. We are working hard to grow the export sector to expand economic opportunities, and I believe youth inclusion in such efforts is essential,” the Senator said.

Dafinone pledged to engage government agencies responsible for youth development to ensure targeted programmes are introduced and sustained in Delta Central and other parts of the country.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Sapele Chapter Chairman of NYCN, Comrade Abebe Kingsley, said the visit was aimed at fostering stronger collaboration with Senator Dafinone and to seek intervention on critical youth issues.

“Youths in Delta Central are confronted with enormous challenges, particularly unemployment and lack of access to skill acquisition programmes. We are here to appeal to you to champion policies that will prioritize youth empowerment in the Senate,” he said.

He commended the Senator for his ongoing legislative efforts, especially in promoting the non-oil export sector, and urged him to integrate youth-focused initiatives into his policy drive.
