CIVIL Servants have been encouraged to support the training of trainers on digitalization in the public service to ensure sustainability of the program in Delta State.
The Head of Service of Delta State, Dr (Mrs.) Mininim Oseji gave the admonition at a workshop entitled “Training the trainer on digitalization in the State public service”, organized by the office of the Head of Service in Asaba.
Expressing appreciation to the Resource Persons selected from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies(MDAs) at the workshop, the Head of Service urged participants to be actively involved in the training as they must count themselves blessed to be selected to make history. Revealing that a pilot paperless scheme had been put in place in the Office of the Head of Service and the State Computer Center, the she advised that participants must take the training seriously by ensuring that they got involved in all aspects of the training.
Defining digitalization as moving from paper- based to digital-based system, the lead facilitator, Mr Timi Nagberi emphasized that digitalization enhances efficiency, accessibility and improves citizen experience.
He noted that both the government and citizens stood to benefit from digitalization of the public service as citizens would have access to 24/7 service which will be fast and transparent in processes. He listed the gains to the government to include amongst other things; lower administrative costs, improved inter- agencies coordination, real-time program tracking and better policy formulation.
Papers were presented on topics such as Smartphone Competence, Digital Tools, Office Applications and Social-Media and Communications by nine Resource Persons selected from various MDAs in the State Public Service including Mr Tuoyo Eweto, the Director of Computer, Delta State.
