The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has reacted to the death of a student who drowned in the Abraka River.
A statement signed by the Executive President Kingsley Ovedje Dumuje and Secretary General, Oliseyenum Victory, said that “the SUG is closely monitoring the situation and remains in communication with the relevant school authorities to ensure that only accurate and verified information is communicated as it becomes available.”
According to the SUG, “We strongly urge all students to refrain from spreading unverified reports or speculations that may cause unnecessary panic or distress.” The union, said in the light of this tragic event, all students are hereby strongly advised to stay away from the Abraka River and its surrounding areas, as they may pose serious safety risks.”
DELSU SUG also extended “its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased during this painful time.”
“We pray that God grants them comfort, strength, and peace to bear this irreplaceable loss,” the union concluded.
