The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, has made a clarion call to Deltans living outside the state to return home and contribute to the development of their homeland.
Sir Onyeme made the call while commissioning the newly built Sky Favour Hotel at Oleh, in Isoko South Local Government Area of the State.
The Deputy Governor noted that the establishment of Sky Favour Hotel in Oleh marked a significant step towards economic development and job creation in the state, underscoring the government’s commitment to fostering an enabling environment for investment and growth.
Expressing delight at the development, Sir Onyeme described the hotel as a testament to the state government’s call for Deltans in the diaspora to return and play their part in the state’s progress.
According to him, “This administration has always proved that every development, investment, peace, and security in our state will encourage Deltans living outside to come back home and join the government in the developmental process of our state and communities.”
He commended the Founder, Managing Director, and Chief Executive Officer of Sky Favour Hotel for heeding this call and investing in Delta State. “On behalf of the governor and the entire government, we appreciate this effort,” he said.
Sir Onyeme emphasised that the investment was not solely about profit-making but also about fulfilling social responsibilities. He revealed that the hotel had already employed over 20 youths, with a ripple effect expected to benefit more than 100 individuals through their families and dependents. “As the hotel grows, I believe more people will be hired,” he added.
He assured investors of the state government’s unwavering commitment to providing a conducive atmosphere for businesses, including the provision of necessary infrastructure and security.
“Any Deltan who brings their money back to the state to invest will have no reason to regret their action,” he affirmed.
Sir Onyeme also used the occasion to urge other Deltans doing business outside the state to return home and invest.
“If you don’t develop your place, do not expect others to come and do it for you. When you show what you have done yourself, others will have more confidence in what you are saying,” he stated.
He reiterated the state government’s continued support for private sector initiatives that create jobs and promote sustainable development across the state.
In his remarks, the Director-General of Revenue Monitoring, Tracking and Audit, Chief Mike Edegware, who chaired the occasion, lauded the state government for creating an enabling environment that encourages investors to explore opportunities even in local communities.
Edegware noted that without peace and security, investors would find it difficult to operate in any part of the state. He commended the Oborevwori administration for prioritising peace and security, making it possible for establishments like Sky Favour Hotel and other corporate organisations to thrive across the state.
In a welcome address read on his behalf by Barr Favour Idhugwe, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Sky Favour Hotel, Mr Peter Idhugwe, said the hotel’s location in Oleh would open doors to untapped opportunities, such as attracting visitors to Isoko’s famous festivals, cultural events, and showcasing the warm hospitality of the people.
He described Sky Favour as more than just a hotel, saying, “It is a launchpad for growth in a town that is poised to become a major business hub in the region.”
