AGO: DTSG Directs SEEPCO To Supply Bayelsa, Delta GMOU Board

In a move aimed at deepening stakeholder’s engagement and ensuring operational fairness in the oil-producing regions, the Delta State Government has directed Sterling Exploration and Energy Production Company Limited (SEEPCO) to immediately issue a Purchase Order for the supply of Automotive Gas Oil, (AGO) to communities under the AGGE Bayelsa and Delta Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMOU) Board.

An official statement signed by the Delta State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Chief Peter Uviejitobor, mandated SEEPCO to provide said Purchase Order for the supply of up to one million liters of AGO, beginning from September 2025.

The supply, according to the statement, is to be executed through vendors nominated by the Board

The statement disclosed that the resolution followed a high-level meeting held recently, where key stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Oil and Gas and the GMOU Board from AGGE Delta and Bayelsa, reviewed demands and expectations of the host communities.

It further explained that in addition to the AGO supply, SEEPCO has also been directed to make available three vessels to the GMOU Board, and to begin negotiations for the renewal of the expired GMOU within the next 60 days.

Accordingly, the Delta State Ministry of Oil and Gas is expected to oversee the negotiation process to ensure transparency and accountability.

The ministry emphasized the need for AGGE Delta to receive its full 30 percent quota in the ongoing Surveillance Contract arrangement as part of broader efforts to enhance community participation in securing oil assets in the region.

The statement reads thus:

“Provision of purchase order (PO) in respect of AGO supply to AggeBayelsa and Delta GMOU board and others.

“In furtherance of the resolve of the Government of Delta State towards providing the requisite business environment for the teeming investors in the state and the mandate of the Ministry of Oil and Gas, the above subject matter has been substantially deliberated upon.

“This directive is to be complied with strictly”, the statement emphasized.

Copies of the letter were sent to the Nigeria Army, Abuja, Delta State Police Command, Asaba and the Department of State Service, Delta State Command.

Correspondent reports that the signaled a renewed push by the Delta State Government to maintain stability, accountability, and mutual benefit within oil-producing communities, particularly under the framework of the GMOU, a key instrument in managing community-company relations in Nigeria’s oil-rich Niger Delta.
