ADC Coalition Leadership Disowns Alleged Closed-Door Meeting In Delta

BY CHRISTY ABOGHE

THE African Democratic Congress (ADC) Coalition Leadership Team in Delta State has dismissed reports of an alleged closed-door strategic meeting of the party’s state Executive Committee, describing the claims as misleading and inconsistent with the current realities of the party in the state.

In a statement issued to journalists , he Chairman of the ADC Coalition Leadership Team in Delta State, Hon. George Timinimi, said the report, which portrayed Mr. Barbar Ebimowei as the substantive state Chairman presiding over a meeting ahead of the forthcoming party congress, did not reflect the true position of affairs within the party.

According to him , the ADC in Delta State is presently undergoing a coalition-driven reorganization process built on inclusiveness, wide consultations and consensus among stakeholders.

He stressed that any meeting convened without the involvement of critical stakeholders, coalition partners and recognized leadership structures could not be regarded as representing the official position or collective will of the party.

“The leadership of the ADC in Delta State at this critical stage is not a one-man affair or a closed-circle arrangement,” Timinimi said, adding that the ongoing efforts to reposition the party involves coalition leaders, elders and stakeholders committed to building a credible alternative political platform in the state.

He further raised concerns over claims that the purported meeting was restricted to “duly elected state executive members,” noting that such an approach contradicts the party’s commitment to internal democracy, transparency and fairness.

Timinimi maintained that secrecy and exclusion have no place in the ADC, particularly at a time when unity and reconciliation remain central to the party’s progress.

The coalition leader warned that no congress process would be considered valid or credible if it is founded on unilateral actions, exclusion or disregard for existing coalition arrangements and engagements with the national leadership of the party.

He described any attempt to preempt or manipulate the congress process as unacceptable and contrary to the ADC constitution.

Reaffirming the coalition’s stance, Timinimi said the ADC Coalition Leadership Team remains committed to a transparent , inclusive and constitutionally guided process that carries along all stakeholders across Delta State.

He called on party faithful, the media and the public to treat unverified reports with caution and to rely only on officially recognized communications from coalition-backed leadership structures.
