The Ward 3 Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State has announced the indefinite suspension of the Executive Assistant to the Governor, Elder Chike Ugwumadu, over alleged misconducts deemed detrimental to the unity and progress of the party.
Ward three is made up of Abala, Inyi and Onuaboh.
A letter jointly signed by the Ward Chairman, Hon. Chijioke Nwanze, and the Ward Secretary, Mr. Dike Collins, stated that since Ugwumadu’s admission into the APC, Ward 3 had experienced disunity, factionalisation, impersonation, and the destruction of democratic processes.
The State Chairman of the APC, Chief Omeni Sobotie has been communicated.
According to the ward executive, Ugwumadu allegedly convened meetings without the knowledge of the ward leadership, thereby usurping the powers of the Ward Chairman contravening provisions of the party’s constitution.
He was further accused of leading loyalists from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the APC in the ward and instructing them to boycott meetings convened by the party leadership.
The statement also alleged that Ugwumadu repeatedly refused to attend official ward meetings held at the ward headquarters or other approved venues, opting instead to convene parallel meetings with his supporters, an action the ward described as undermining internal democracy.
In addition, the executive committee accused him of disobeying party directives by unilaterally constituting a consensus-building committee and appointing members without involving key ward and local government party officers, including the Ward Chairman, Ward Secretary, LGA Youth Leader, and LGA Women Leader.
The Ward Executive Committee explained that based on the allegations leveled against him, it unanimously resolved to suspend Ugwumadu indefinitely pending the outcome of a fact finding committee set up to investigate the allegations.
