Oborevwori Commends Journalists For Partnering Govt

BY CHRISTIAN EZE

THE Governor of Delta State Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has expressed delight over the good relationship existing between his administration and media practitioners in the state since he took over the mantle of leadership. He commended them for being good partners by contributing their quota to the development of the state and indeed, the country.

The Governor made the remarks while speaking at the 2025 Press Week of the Correspondent Chapel Asaba, a unit of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council

The Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Hon. Charles Aniagwu, encouraged the practitioners to sustain the relationship for enhanced development.

The Commissioner said that the theme of the seminar/workshop, which was centered on the More Agenda of the Oborevwori’s administration based on the power sector as panacea for economic recovery and development in the State and Nigeria was apt. He noted that it expressed in unique manner, the demands of the times in line with the drive of the present administration.

The Chairman of the occasion, Elder Chris Biose appreciated the Association for honouring him and observed that the power sector in the country had been grossly inadequate as the population far outweigh the power production and supply.

He emphatically asserted that the needed power supply to serve the nation as observed by the Prof Bath Nnaji, one of the leading lights in power sector, is 100, 000 megawatts but the production has been very insignificant and had adversely affected the people, especially those that have small scale businesses.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Chapel, Comrade Ifeanyi Olannye, in his welcome address noted that it was of great interest to the Chapel to stir up the poor power supply across the country for the relevant authorities to be conscious of the need to enhance means of livelihood through the incisive lecture aimed at tackling the continuous power outage that had endangered the development.

The Commissioner who was represented by the Director in the Ministry of Information, Mrs. Stella Macaulay, listed many areas  the present administration is meeting the various needs of the Delta State citizenry, applauded the vision of the association for navigating through a salient pathway in the drive for a better society.
