The final of Delta State League could not take place yesterday as the finalists, Ogunbor Football Club, Sapele and Big Daddy Football Club, Agbor disrupted their own game, accusing the Delta State Football Association (DFA) of not meeting up with their demands.
When the game had barely begun, the two football clubs caused chaos by demanding a prize money.
Chairman of Delta State Football Association, Chief Godwin Adode said the medals and a trophy were available and were later produced.
However, this did not pacify both teams who demanded that the management of the Delta State Football Association must come up with a prize money.
However, all efforts to calm the players and fans of Big Daddy FC met with a brick wall as they held the chairman and the FA secretary hostage, by locking the gates of St Patrick’s College, Asaba.
The referees were almost lynched but for the effort of good Samaritans who came to their rescue.
Our correspondent had to beg to be allowed to pass and no concrete solution was reached as at the time of filing this report.
