 Oborevwori Lauds Transcorp Power As 75 Graduate With Special Vocational Skills

DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has com­mended Transcorp Power for its steadfast commitment to human capital development and tangible community impact in the state.

The governor gave the commen­dations during the graduation of 75 persons that graduated from the 12th and 13th batches and the induction of the 14th batch into the vocational skills

Training and Entrepreneur Em­powerment Programme (VSTEEP) at Transcorp Power Station, Ughelli in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Represented by the Chairman, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Oborevwori disclosed that the event was a significant milestone in its commitment to host community development.

According to the Governor, “I want to commend Transcorp Power for giving back to the society and its host communities as part of the company Corporate Society Responsibility (CRS) to boost development in the state.

“To the graduating students, I want to congratulate you all for taking the time to learn a skill and to be entre­preneurs, in your various ways.

“Wherever you find yourself, you must be good ambassadors of Delta State.

“You must be good ambassadors of Transcorp Power, so that others will emulate you in this program and your impact will be felt in a way that others will want to come and learn.”

Earlier in his address, the Manag­ing Director/Chief Executive Of­ficer of Transcorp Power Plc, Mr Peter Ikenga, stated that the event was a testament to the company’s consistent dedication to the socio-economic advancement of its host communities.

He said: “Today is a significant milestone as we celebrate the perse­verance, passion and potential of the 75 individuals who have embarked on a journey to build a better future for themselves.

“Each one of you is a testament to the democratization of luck and the power of opportunity.

“We are here to celebrate your growth, resilience, drive and the hope you bring to our shared vision.”

“The programme was intentionally designed to equip individuals with practical skills and entrepreneurial insight and every skill mastered in disciplines such as tailoring, carpen­try, and catering is a stepping stone toward personal fulfilment and com­munity development.”

“To our new inductees, this pro­gramme is a launchpad for the future you envision for yourself as I urge you to make the most of every resource, every mentor, and every opportunity,” Ikenga urged.

 

 …Seeks Reappointment Of Oyibo, Two Others

DELTA State Gover­nor, Rt. Hon. Sher­iff Oborevwori has nominated Comrade Oku­mami Oyibo, Dr (Chief ) Akpufuomu Pemu and, Prince Mike Oputa for re­appointment as members of the Delta State Civil Service Commission (CSC).

This was contained in a letter the Governor for­warded to the state legis­lature for approval.

In the letter, which was read during yesterday’s plenary by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, the Governor sought the approval of the lawmakers for the reappointment of the trio

According to the Gov­ernor, the proposed reap­pointment of the trio was sequel to the expiration of their first tenure. While Comrade Olumami Oyibo would be reappointed as First member, the duo of Dr. Akpufuomu Pemu and Prince Mike Oputa would be reappointed as second and third members, re­spectively. The nominees have been told to submit 35 copies of their resume each on or before Monday, November 24 this year and appear for screening on Tuesday, November 25.

In another development, a bill for a law to repeal the Delta State HIV/AIDs Anti-discrimination, pre­vention and protection law 2022 sailed through first reading.

The bill being sponsored by Leader of the House and member represent­ing Aniocha North State Constituency, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi seeks to enact the Delta State HIV/AIDs and Hepatitis B/C Anti- Discrimination, Prevention and Protection Bill, 2025.

Second Reading of the bill has been slated for Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
