The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Delta State Command, has urged everyone to work together to make the roads safer.
The state Sector Commander, Mrs. Joyce Alexander, said this at a recent Town Hall meeting for the 2025 Ember Months Campaign titled “Take Responsibility for Your Safety, Stop Distracted Driving.”
According to her, as governments, security agencies, transport unions, traditional rulers, community leaders and citizens, we must make our roads safer for everyone.
“The ember months, as we know, come with increased travel, busy roads and unfortunately, a rise in road crashes.
“This year’s campaign ”Take Responsibility for Your Safety, Stop Distracted Driving”, is both simple and powerful. “It reminds us that safety begins with you and me. Whether as a driver, passenger or pedestrian, our choices on the road determines whether we arrive safely or not”, she said.
Speaking on the Asaba-Onitsha expressway repair, the Sector Commander commended the state government, saying it is what the road users needed because of the heavy vehicular and human traffic.
“With the heightened increase in vehicular and human traffic, we will be able to have vehicles moving without much gridlock”, she said.
Delta State Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Onoriode Agofure represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Victor Omoniyi, said the Town Hall Meeting came at a time of heavy vehicular movement on the highways.
