The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has debunked rumours of the alleged fallout with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He made this debunkment, during the commissioning of internal roads in Sector Centre B by Dakibiyu, Jabi District.

If you recall, Wike, had being absent in the recent National Council of State meeting. He therfore clarified that due to other scheduled engagements (referring to the various project flag-offs and commissioning), he had sought and gotten the President’s permission to be absent.

Dismissing the rumours as “unnecessary propaganda and blackmail”, he said, “I had already told Mr. President that I will not be available because of other engagements we have already put in place”, adding that the FCT was duly represented by the Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud.

Wike further stated that the best way to counter such criticism is by delivering on promises and emphasized his commitment to achieving results in the FCT.

He said, “We have to be careful when people carry unnecessary propaganda and blackmail. In spite of those things, remain focused, and you will achieve your result.

“Because I did not attend, they said I was not happy that my own nominee was not taken.

“I work for Mr. President. His judgment, as far as I’m concerned, in this country has always been how to put this country in the right perspective. But I told people not to bother, be focused. When you start delivering, your achievements will silence all critics”.

Highlighting the completion of the Dakibiyu internal roads as a prime example of government’s commitment, the Minister noted that the previously impassable roads, which houses key federal agencies like the Police Service Commission, the Court of Appeal, Abuja division, and the FCT High Court, have now been fully completed.

He stressed that even detractors cannot deny the visible progress in the nation’s capital.

He said, “As far as FCT is concerned, no matter how you may hate anybody, can you deceive yourself to the point that you will say nothing is going on in the FCT? Certainly not”.

He also mentioned that in the next few months, the FCT will be back in the area for the inauguration of the new Court of Appeal, Abuja division, which is a testament to the ongoing development of the Sector Centre B area.

“I thank God today, by the support of His Excellency, Mr. President, by his leadership, it is now a thing of the past that all the roads here have been completed. In the next few months, we will be here again for the Court of Appeal, Abuja division that would soon be inaugurated by Mr. President”, he said.

Barr. Wike also praised the contractor, a local firm, for not disappointing the administration, and thanked the Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, for her strong cooperation, describing the partnership as a crucial factor in achieving results.

The Minister promised that the administration’s momentum would continue, with another 10 days of project flag-offs and commissioning planned, and assured Nigerians that the FCT would continue to serve as a showpiece for the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He appealed for patience, assuring residents that with President Tinubu’s right leadership, Nigeria will get to the promised land.

“As we have always said, when you have the right leadership, you can achieve the expected result. Mr. President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) has shown the right leadership and that is why, when you are talking about the achievements we have made, it is because of the right leadership. When you have the right leadership, you get things right”, the Minister said.

Earlier, in her Vote of Thanks, the Minister of State, FCT, Dr Mahmoud described the completed Sector Centre B internal roads as a key dividend of democracy, recalling that the previously impassable roads are now complete, benefiting numerous federal agencies in the area.

In his overview of the project, Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Engr Richard Yunana Dauda, stated that the construction of the roads was in line with the implementation of the provisions of the Abuja Master Plan.

Engr Dauda also revealed that the road project was significant because it would provide transportation infrastructure in Sector Centre B, which is a mini-business area and a hub of commercial activity, having interconnectivity with other strategic areas of the City such as Wuye, Jabi, Utako and Daki Biyu districts.

He said the commissioned road would further give access to public and private institutions such as the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, the Code of Conduct Tribunal, the Police Service Commission and the FCT High Court.

He added that facilities provided, with the internal roads, consisted of earthworks, roadworks, surface water drainage network, street lighting, water distribution network, and telecommunication ducts.

Managing Director, Isokariari Nigeria Limited, Engr Obelema Isokariari, the contractor of the project, thanked the FCT Minister and the FCT Administration for timely approvals, and for putting in place an effective management system which made it easy for contractors to work effectively and deliver within set time. He thanked the Minister for the opportunity to serve, and expressed willingness to be part of future partnerships with the FCT Administration.
