IN its determination to sustain the ideals of the Annual National Conference of the OnichaUgbo Catholic Women Organization (NCOCWO), the 32nd edition was held recently at the church premises, OnichaUgbo in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State .
Welcoming members, the President of the organization, Ezinne Uche Odozi expressed gratitude to God for granting journey mercies to those who attended the year’s event and also to identify with the home Parish.
She urged all the women to make it a point of duty to attend the annual event and make full use of the opportunity God has given them for more spiritual upliftment and wellbeing, as well as discuss way-forward for the organization, the church, and pray for Onicha Ugbo town as a whole.
Continuing she said the challenges being faced by the organization included irregular branch meetings and finance, and pleaded with the Presidents of the various branches to devise strategies that would spark more commitment from members.
She used the medium to also call on Onicha Ugbo Catholic Women by birth or by marriage resident in other States in Nigeria to come and identify with the organization.
Mrs. Odozi reaffirmed that this year’s Conference will focus on spiritual upliftment and giving honour to whom honour is due, and also bestow the award of Ambassador for Christ, Ezinna, Ezinne to committed sons and daughters of our mother Mary.
While appreciating members who came from different States as well as those at home, she called for prayer for members who were presently sick for quick recovery.
In his remark, the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Malachy Okonkwo, thanked those who supported the realization of this year’s Annual Conference and were involved in the promotion of evangelism and for the work of God to progress in Onicha Ugbo.
Specifically, the Cleric thanked Ndinne (Otu August) for their steadfastness and urged them not to relent in their overall commitment in the spread of the gospel of God, even as he thanked Jesus for the Legion, the ongoing construction work and also provision of notable facilities in the church for the comfort of Parishioners.
The Conference featured the award of Ambassador for Christ, to committed sons and daughters of the community.
Responding on behalf of the awardees, Major General Lawrence Fejokwu, represented by Chief Alex Odi-Okoh, the lyase Agba, thanked the organization for the honour done to them and pledged that their spirit will never be dampened in supporting activities geared towards the promotion of the work of God.
