PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, on the passing of his mother, Mama Lydia Yilwatda.
Mama Yilwatda died on Sunday morning at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital at the age of 83.
In a statement posted on X (former ly Twitter) by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described her as a woman of virtue who lived a life dedicated to faith, service, and the uplifting of her community.
The President enjoined the APC Chairman to accept her death as the will of Almighty God and be consoled by the life of purpose his mother lived.
According to the statement, ‘’President Tinubu prays for the repose of the soul of Mama Yilwatda and beseeches God to grant Prof. Yilwatda, the entire family and all those Mama left behind the strength to bear the loss.’’
Meanwhile, the Plateau State chapter of the APC has been thrown into mourning following the death of Mama Lydia Yilwatda.
The acting Publicity Secretary of the APC in the state, Shittu Bamaiyi, who conveyed the party’s condolence message in a statement, described the death of Mama Yilwatda as not only a personal loss to the party’s National Chairman but also to the entire APC family in Plateau State and the country at large.
Shittu noted that her death was painful and devastating, especially to her children, as she died at a time when her counsel and prayers were most needed.
Part of the statement reads: “There is no doubt that the late Mama’s death is painful and devastating to the Yilwatdas, because she died at the time her motherly advice and prayers were most needed, particularly to the National Chairman, Prof Yilwatda.”
He also described her as a devoted Christian and respected leader in the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN).
“The deceased was a devoted Christian, virtuous, humane, and humble woman leader, particularly in the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN).
“The late Mama Lydia was known for the tireless and immeasurable efforts, alongside her late husband, Reverend Toma Yilwatda, in boosting the Church in Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, and Plateau States.
“The consoling record is that the deceased left behind an indelible and accomplished legacy, which is manifested in her children. While sharing with Prof Yilwatda in his moment of grief, the party prays God to grant the late Mama’s soul eternal rest,” the statement added.
