Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) have been charged to give performance feedback to the government for improved service delivery.
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori gave the charge while declaring open the inception of the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Review Meeting between MDAs and the Performance Feedback Unit coordinated by the Office of the Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor.
The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, said “this administration is committed to the process of improving the infrastructural, social, and economic development of Delta State, and hence the need to track and measure the performances of MDAs through a domesticated Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)”.
Oborevwori disclosed that such tracking and measurement of the implementation of government policies and programmes constitute the basis for stock taking that validates the performance scorecard that holds MDAs accountable.
Earlier, the Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor who doubles as the Head of the State Performance Feedback Unit, Dr. Barry Gbe, noted that the inception of the KPIs will help ensure optimal performance in line with the MORE agenda and called for the cooperation of all MDAs towards the general review and improvement mechanism which he described as a loop- circle of input, outcomes and impact.
Also speaking, a resource person, Prof Eric Eboh, hinted that continuity in government calls for attention to working with available and verifiable data, which prevents unnecessary bureaucracies and duplication of government policies and projects.
He urged the MDAs to acquaint themselves with the provisional KPIs as encapsulated in the policy and guidance manual, which they were asked to explore and validate.
The event had in attendance Commissioners, Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries, and Heads of Parastatals/Agencies.
