Delta Civil Service Forum Moves To Boost Capacity Of Admin Officers

In a significant move to boost the capacity of its members, the Administrative Officers’ Forum of the Delta State Civil Service has inaugurated five strategic committees to drive initiatives, including an annual lecture series, online master’s degree program, and orientation for newly converted officers.

The Chairman of the Forum, Mr Emokiniovo Itobore, while inaugurating the committees, emphasised the importance of continuous training for administrative officers, citing their role as well-rounded professionals.

“Integrity and knowledge for service is the Forum’s guiding motto, and these initiatives aim to uphold this standard.” Mr Itobore said.

The committees included the Orientation/Induction Committee, which the Forum’s Chairman said was to partner with the state government in orienting and inducting newly converted officers.

Others are the Online Master’s Degree Programme Committee that would facilitate collaboration with MIVA Open University for an online Master’s degree program in Public Administration for public servants, as well as the Annual Lecture Series Committee.

Mr Itobore, who also inaugurated the Editorial Board and Constitution Review Committees, expressed optimism that these committees would inject fresh energy into the Forum, driving progress and excellence.

“We are committed to enhancing the skills and knowledge of our members, and these committees will play a crucial role in achieving this goal. With this development, the Administrative Officers’ Forum is poised to further strengthen its members’ capabilities, contributing to effective governance and public service delivery in Delta State” the chairman said.

Responding on behalf of the members of all the inaugurated committees, the Director of Administration in the Ministry of Riverine Infrastructure, Mr. Ignatus Ishie, commended the Chairman of the Forum and his team for setting the template for the giant stride and assured him that they would work assiduously to deliver on their respective terms of reference.

Before the inauguration of the committees, the Chairman of the Forum, Mr Emokiniovo Itobore, led members of the newly elected executive of the Administrative Officers’ Forum on a courtesy visit to the State Head of Service, Dr (Mrs) Minnie Oseji to affirm their support for her programmes to rebrand and reposition the public service and also to seek collaboration.
