A 16-year-old boy has accidentally killed his younger sister while playing with a long range single-barrel gun belonging to their father, The Pointer has learned.
In a video posted online by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Bright Edafe, the boy identified as Ifeanyi Okafor said he uses the gun to play when his father is away.
According to the boy, ‘’as I was inside playing with the gun, I didn’t know that my sister was passing by the corridor when the gun discharged and the bullet hit her.
His father, Mr Christian Okafor 50, who hails from Alisime community in Ika South Local Government Area, said his deceased daughter was eight, adding that he uses the gun, which belongs to his father, for hunting.
DSP Edafe, said investigations will be carried out and justice must be served as the law has no accommodation for emotions, urging the public to tread with caution.
