THE Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), yesterday, said it is irrevocably committed to the welfare, peace and security of Deltans and residents in the State.
Majority Leader of the State Assembly and member representing Aniocha North State Constituency, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi said this during a public hearing on a bill for a Law to amend the Delta State Community Security Corps Agency.
Hon. Nwaobi, who is also the Chairman, Joint Committees on Special Committee on Bills, Peace and Security, said that the ongoing amendment bill, which has currently sailed through first and second readings on the floor of the State House of Assembly was aimed at checking the rising spate of insecurity in the State.
Flanked by other members of the committee, who included Hon. Isaac Anwuzia, Hon. Charles Emetulu, Hon. Fred Martin’s, Hon. Emmanuel Sinibe, among others, said that the State legislature in conjunction with the Executive would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that Deltans are protected and secured.
According to him, the public hearing was aimed at ensuring public participation in the passage of the bill.
Our correspondent reports that relevant stakeholders including civil society organizations participated in the public hearing held at the Assembly complex of the State House of Assembly.
